If you are a heartlander and see yourself playing chess at the void decks of your flat when your hair turn gray, why not make it a better place. As part of ArchiFest ’09, the Singapore Institute of Architecture has presented Operation Void Deck, a competition open to all to create an architectural intervention into the void decks of our beloved HDB flats. Entries should present a vision of how to encourage community interaction and enhance the quality of life of the residents across generations, especially the elderly with the budget capped at $30,000. While the costs of our HDB units keep rising, perhaps we can spruce it up to match its price. Visit here for more information.
