Local boys Kiat & Darren Dubwise gets the thumbs up for our Pick Of The Week happening tonight, followed by Danny Marquez (Bubble Soul Music, Spain), and Osunlade (Yoruba Records, Greece) tomorrow, and Calvin Harris (Scotland) makes his debut on Saturday. A DJ/producer or rather an artiste who personifies art, Osunlade returns as the messiah of House music, debunking claims to retire after ZoukOut 2007’s gig. Having found his place with Yoruba Records and releasing tracks with that distinctive deep Nu-Soul feel, replete with tribal African influences, he has also shown his creative ability to evolve even more as an artiste with a photography exhibition at the famous Burning Man Festival. Calvin Harris went from posting his own DIY music through MySpace to signing with multinational giant EMI almost in a single step. He’s worked on singles by Jamiroquai, Groove Armada, CSS, wrote and produced songs for Kylie Minogue and also collaborated with Dizzee Rascal on “Dance Wiv Me,” which reached Number One in the UK. After the successful debut of “I Created Disco” in 2007 featuring two Top Ten hits (”Acceptable in the 80s” and “The Girls”) and the recent Number One single “I’m Not Alone”, from the second album, Harris further proves his rising star in the Electropop/ Nu Wave world.
