The Folly of A Garden | Drama Centre Theatre
Participate in a mock art auction where two Qing bronze heads of a rabbit and a rat, originally part of the twelve animal fountainheads that once adorned the waterclock at imperial Yuanmingyuan – Garden of Perfect Brightness, are up for auction. Inspired by the 2009 Yves Saint Laurent auction, The Folly of A Garden showcases the protests from the Chinese government and the Chinese people which sparks an international controversy on the issue of cultural repatriation of looted relics ensued. This fitting collaborative effort between Cultural Medallion Recipient and renowned choreographer, Angela Liong, and composer, Joyce Beetuan Koh, featuring live traditional Chinese percussions can only produce a mesmerizing performance in the form of a dynamic modern dance.
The Folly of A Garden is the preview of a larger dance-theatre piece staged in the theatre as its first creative process for public viewing.
Tickets are $35 (Standard); $28 (Senior Citizens/Students); $19 (Friends of Arts Fission / OCBC Arts Platinum & Platinum MasterCard Members).
All other OCBC Credit and Debit Card members are entitled to a 20% concession.
The Folly of A Garden will be staged at the Drama Centre Theatre, National Library, Level 3.
