Diamonds N Triangles is a celebration of Alley Bar’s 10th Anniversary, in line with a typical wedding anniversary where the gift that represents the 10th year of union is a diamond. No diamonds will be needed for entry but come decked out in bling and triangular elements and receive a free shot of Sauza Homitos. In addition to this, there will be free flow of house pour liquor and Heineken from 7-8pm to help you kickstart your Saturday night. To help get everyone get in the mood of celebrations, Alley Bar has sprung together an impressive roster of DJs to keep the music fresh all night long. On deck duty in no particular order; Kane Ian (Alley Bar’s resident DJ), EJ Missy, Debbie Chia, JB (France), Fred E (X-Mini), JNR and Aveneesh (Electrocaine) with visuals by Sublimetext. Laugh Off Asia kicks off this weekend (Friday 18th & Saturday 19th) with a showdown between the best up-and-coming comedians from Comedy Masala (Singapore) Vs Comedy Cartel (Philippines). A showcase of standup comedy with friendly rivalries battling it out for your laughter and comedic supremacy. If you’ve been to Comedy Masala at Home Club you know that the Singapore comedy underground packs a heavy punch. So come on down to the Chambers at The Arts House this weekend and lend them your cheers while they battle it out against their Philippine counterparts. This Friday (18th November) Sup would like to invite everyone to take a whiff at the positive and multifaceted, social contagion that is Staple Design®. Sup will be hosting the Staple Fall/Winter 2011 Trunk Show as well as dropping a very exclusive collaborative tee and starter cap in two different colourways. Be the first in South-East Asia to view the F/W ‘11 Staple collection in its entirety which will feature styling from both STPL and Staple, themed to the idea of an All-American auto shop. Also housed exclusively at Sup are carefully hand picked past and current works from the Staple Design® vault, curated into an exhibition. Feast your eyes, on rare memorabilia from one-off STAPLE collaborations with some of the biggest names in the street and sporting industry, like sneakers, sunglasses and more.

There will also be an Auto Shop in Analogue Photo Exhibition by Staple x Peek! x Sup. As purveyors of all things analogue, Peek! presents the STAPLE F/W 2011 Collection shot from an analogue’s perspective. Auto Shop in Analogue views the collection through the lens of three popular analogue cameras, the LC-W, Sprocket Rocket and Pop 9.

Behind these lenses are the creative forces behind the trunk show itself, Jacky Chia (SUP), Sabrina Li (Staple Design®) and Joanne Lim (Peek!). Highly representative of the mergence between photography and fashion in the Staple Design aesthetic, this collaboration serves as an extension, to add a deeper artistic flair and understanding to the Fall/Winter 2011 collection. Using Lomography’s iconic Lady Grey Black & White 35mm Film as medium for the photos, the images produced along with the usage of the double exposure technique, reflects the simple yet classic nature of the collection paying nod to high-end magazine photo-shoots from the 1960s, coupled with modern facets of a typical street setting against Singapore’s very own Haji Lane. This combining the different aspects of ‘street life’, representing the seepage of street culture into the conscious mind of shoppers today who yearns for more than just the run-of-the-mill fashion of today.

Fred Perry will be concluding 2011 with a bang as they bring to us their fifth installment of their music initiative, Subculture Night on Friday (18th November) – The Perfect Fifth at Zouk. Expect a night of unpretentious sounds and good fueled fun by servings of music genre inspired ice cream shots by Seventh Heaven and the ever refreshing Fred’s Punch, a special concoction by 42 Below. As with all Subculture Nights, a local roster of homegrown musicians will take the stage and mesmerize us with their tunes, this night will see the likes of Plainsunset, We The Thousands and The Lost Hat take the stage with Poptart taking us into the night with their infectious mix of non-stop dance hits that will surely get you boogy-ing on the dancefloor. And for the very first time, Subculture will be coupled with Singapore’s one and only audio-visaul collective, Syndicate as the project unprecedented visuals throughout the night. Throwing caution to the wind they will be celebrating in style with their “The Atas Party” at Zouk tonight. So swing on down in your swanky sports car, tai-tai hair-do, decked out in bling and slurp down the bubbles all night long. Providing music for the party will be two of Singapore’s swankiest bands – In Each Hand A Cutlass and Moun.

This month of November 2011, Flabslab will be hosting internationally acclaimed graphic artist, Arkiv Vilmansa’s first ever exhibition in Singapore. Toy collectors and enthusiasts will recognize him from the iconic ‘Arkiv Instant’ vinyl toy figurine, his redesign of Mickey Mouse for Disney Asia as well as his famous ‘Sumo’ toy. This will be Singapore’s first toy-inspired art exhibition and an opportunity to see the works of an artist who has amasses a cult following in the toy art scene. The opening night (10 Nov 2011) will see the worldwide release of ten limited edition bronze ‘Sumo’ head sculptures and over the weekend, there will be two student dialogue sessions with Arkiv and live collaborations with top local artists EeShaun and Wanton Doodle. So head on down to the White Canvas Gallery (11-13 Nov 2011) & Flabslab Gallery (16-30 Nov 2011) for a first of its kind Toy-Art Exhibition as well as an intimate experience to catch these talented artists at work.

We’re glad to share with you that Obey Radio will finally be invading our airwaves tonight at the Pigeonhole Cafe & Bar. Known for its weekly nights at The Crosby in Santa Ana, California, this first installment of OBEY Radio: Singapore features a not to be missed line up – Roam Intl (Obey Records, LA), Funk Basta*d, Izaak Stern, plus a special set of spoken word and beats by Kiat & Kevin Lester of SIXX. The night also marks the launch of an art showcase presenting personally collected print works of OBEY/Shepard Fairey art, which will run till November 22, 2011. In recent times, high-fashion and fast fashion have been having a very fruitful relationship together and the next hotly anticipated collaboration will be the Versace for H&M Collection due for a release later on in the year. We have a small preview here of what you can expect from these two fashion giants. A black jacket with multi-patterned sleeves and a hot pink suit both encapsulating the exuberance of Versace, if this is just the tip of the ice burg, we can’t wait to see the rest of the collection. Dr. Martens x Zouk ‘First Exhibition’

In celebration of Zouk’s 20th anniversary and Dr Martens #FIRSTANDFOREVER campaign the two will be curating the First Exhibition together. During which a unique collection of the Dr Martens iconic 1461 3-Eye shoe specially designed by 19 of Singapore’s trailblazers, creatives and thinkers alike. These one of a kind customized 1461 3-Eye shoes will be exhibited in a mini-art gallery in Zouk accompanied by photos shot by Ivanho Harlim. After which, they will be up for auction on eBay (click here for the auction) from the 8th – 25th October with all proceeds going to Zouk’s adopted charity for 2011: Make-A-Wish Foundation.

This union of of two world-class lifestyle brands brought together through their mutual love for style, opening minds and pushing boundaries. The ‘Digital Imaging Project’ is a collaborative project between Casio and Ron Herman to create the brand new Casio Exilim TR100 pocket camera. This exciting project not only provides a brand new design for the camera, but also offers a new way to manipulate a digital camera through photographs and movies captured in various styles.

Ron Herman has been offering the “California Style of Life” through the fashion industry for over 35 years. “The Fashion has to be stimulating, fun, free and full of love”, is the Ron Herman’s philosophy. The project has been started by crossing over this philosophy with Casio’s new digital camera that offers a free and fun photographic experience.

The Ron Herman version comes in white while the an exclusive mastermind Japan version comes in all black. This 21mm lens pocket friendly camera features a 3-inch touch screen LCD display that rotates 360 degrees horizontally and 270 degrees vertically and shoots HD-Video and captures images at a 12-megapixel resolution.
