Creative Director Consuelo Catiglioni captures all the freedom and experimentation the label is known for, mixing all-over bold prints, vivid colour and African-inspired colour blocks. What looks like three animals in action is really a relationship of complexities between three main houses in the highly-rated HBO TV series, Game of Thrones. Winner of the October 2011 T-shirt Contest Benjamin Chee won over the 9 Fountains community with his stylized sketch titled The Wolf, the Lion and the Deer – the wolf protecting the stag from lion. Joining Benjamin in the Top 3 is Jason Angeles with his well-composed collage of life-like jellyfish arranged in the shape of an ace. Take a closer look at the Jelly Ace t-shirt and you will notice the attempt to create various shapes and depths of the spineless free-swimming creatures. Cate Jose came in  as a second-runner up with her submission of an owl incorporated into a nocturnal landscape. Completing the October 2011 9 Fountains Collection are Classic, Chef Guevara, Just in Case, Robocorpse and The Black Balloon.

9 Fountains holds a t-shirt design competition every month to provide a platform for artists in the region to showcase their design chops, adding accolades to their portfolios.

Starting next week, William Farquhar’s collection of 19th century natural history drawings will be displayed at the National Museum of Singapore’s new gallery, The Goh Seng Choo Gallery. Complementing existing artworks in the Singapore History Gallery, William Farquhar’s precise and detailed documentation of his botanical and zoological discoveries is our pride. A sizeable flora and fauna collection of 477 artworks of watercolour paintings belonged to the First Resident and Commandant of Singapore and Malacca; of which all will be displayed on an annual rotational basis.

The William Faquhar Collection of Natural History Drawings was purchased and donated to the National Museum of Singapore by Mr Goh Geok Kim.
