Fred Perry will be concluding 2011 with a bang as they bring to us their fifth installment of their music initiative, Subculture Night on Friday (18th November) – The Perfect Fifth at Zouk. In a blink of an eye, one of Singapore’s most beloved magazines – Juice, who have been keeping their finger on the pulse of the local music and fashion scene will be turning a ripe old age of 13. Throwing caution to the wind they will be celebrating in style with their “The Atas Party” at Zouk tonight. So swing on down in your swanky sports car, tai-tai hair-do, decked out in bling and slurp down the bubbles all night long. Providing music for the party will be two of Singapore’s swankiest bands – In Each Hand A Cutlass and Moun.

We’re glad to share with you that Obey Radio will finally be invading our airwaves tonight at the Pigeonhole Cafe & Bar. Known for its weekly nights at The Crosby in Santa Ana, California, this first installment of OBEY Radio: Singapore features a not to be missed line up – Roam Intl (Obey Records, LA), Funk Basta*d, Izaak Stern, plus a special set of spoken word and beats by Kiat & Kevin Lester of SIXX. The night also marks the launch of an art showcase presenting personally collected print works of OBEY/Shepard Fairey art, which will run till November 22, 2011. After two good thumping years, Midnight Shift will throw its glamorous 2nd Anniversary Party at the newly renovated Velvet Underground. Midnight Shift is proud to present its first collaboration with music institution, Zouk, and a long-awaited international mystery guest in the first opening weekend of the exclusive space in Zouk.

Get on board British techno master’s varied 3-hour ride from reggae to dub, house, ambient and back, tried-and-tested by the counsel to be true. Alongside will be Singapore’s very own techno legend, Xhin, on the pre-dawn of his shining new album release, ‘Sword’ out on 11.11.11. To kickoff the night will be promising upstart Notion A, a techno banger with lots of heart, while Zouk’s resident Ming works the floor to higher fervour. Watch out for spine-tingling vocalists Miss Mic and Vandetta as they perform a special duet over a track selection from Midnight Shift’s first EP 001 at the stroke of midnight. Don’t forget to breathe out.

This weekend, animal organizations and Thunder Rock School are coming together to celebrate World Animal Day at “Animal Day @ 313″ with venue sponsor, 313@Somerset. The event will see 9 respected local acts like Caracal, MONSTER CAT, 53A, Run Neon Tiger, Flybar, Nick Chim, Robert Fernando, Amterible, The Synth Experience alongside local artists CLOGTWO, MAHLSTIK and Cheryl Lim raising awareness for the local animal organizations through their love of art and music.

The local artists will debut a set of artworks, titled “Animal In-Sync”, spreading the love we share for animals and the bond between animal and man. The showcase seeks to expose pertinent issues such as animal cruelty, abandoned animals, and the illegal wildlife trade to the youths. The artworks will also be on sale and proceeds will go to the respective organizations. Come on down to show your support and make this weekend a meaningful one.

The event will run from 11:00a.m – 8:00p.m on both days at the Discovery Walk.

In honor of Nirvana’s Nevermind 20th Anniversary, Radio Pulze recalls the legend that composed the history of rock music with a tribute showcase as part of Live Lounge. In celebration of the first agnes b. – SPORT B. concept store in Singapore and as part of the SPORT B. Plugged Asian Music Festival 2011 to show the brand’s passion for music, they will be staging an indoor “Plugged” live concert and music photography exhibition tonight, 2 September 2011 at Zouk. Two of Singapore’s brightest up-and-coming bands – Monster Cat (our personal fave!) and Bear Culture will take the stage and showcase their tunes. The music photography exhibition will feature artistic photos from previous PLUGGED concerts in Hong Kong and Taiwan. For one night only and as part of the Voyage Night Festival 2011, Dope.sg will be throwing an art party featuring music and visual artists from Singapore and chic Parisian club Le Pompon, Paris. The Singapore Art Museum (S.A.M.) will be buzzing with sounds from the famed underground club along with the creative collective Pain O choKolat, French beatboxer Tez as well as homegrown DJ Has. In addition to the tunes floating through the museum, keep an eye out for the Reactive Wall; a collaborative effort between Mojoko and interactive developer Shang Liang. A visual art installation featuring over 200 elements of popular local and graphic icons that will pop up and cover an entire wall based on the sounds you make through microphones. This combination of human participation and contemporary graphics sampled from everyday life will make Reactive Wall a fun, interactive artwork that visitors can relate to in many ways. So head on down to the Glass Hall tonight , Friday 2 September 2011, at S.A.M. from 9pm – 2am and immerse yourself in world of visual and audio bliss. Singapore Art Museum is located at 71 Bras Basah Road

Founded by Charaf Tajer from the Pain O choKolat collective, Le Pompon is the famed underground club from Paris. The place is a former synagogue situated in Paris’s 10th Arrondissement, east of the city. The ground floor hosts a restaurant and a lounge while the ‘secret’ basement holds the club that has seen acts such the Black Keys, Two Door Cinema Club, Verbal, Jamaica, Kreayshawn and attracted celebrities such as Nicole Richie, Lenny Kravitz or Kanye West in a very speak-easy environment. Le Pompon have also organized parties with Parisian boutique Colette, fashion label Louis Vuitton and Chloé, and music labels Kitsuné and Ed Bangers.

Tez, a Paris based beatboxer has performed at Le Pompon as well as at the Pain O choKolat block parties. He spent two years travelling the world with the 2 sisters from Cocorosie and has performed in Japan, Australia and the USA.

In a blink of an eye Tanjong Beach Club will celebrating their 1st Birthday Bash later today. It seems like only yesterday when we were all in the pool toasting champaign at the launch of TBC. And for those of you that were there a year ago, we don’t need to remind you how epic a party it was. It was one of those parties that people talked about for months after, not even the rain could dampen the mood of celebrations. At this years’ 1st Party Bash, the TBC crew will be pulling out all stops to make this yet another memorable celebration.

Though The Dining Room is fully booked for their Anniversary Dinner, there’s lots more going on for everyone to enjoy.
