Stumbled upon this wonderfully shot time-lapse video of the fireworks from the National Day Parade 2011. The video kicks off with a nice birds eye view of the cityscape that is Singapore, a beautiful scene that we don’t normally see/enjoy because we are caught in the hustle and bustle of our everyday lives. Illuminated housing block estates, the Singapore Flyer, One Fullerton and the Central Business District are beautifully showcased with the climax of the explosive visual that all Singaporeans associate with our National Day unfolds in front of your eyes. Feiyue has partnered up with Porteus Xandau and Lucas Van Vuuren to create an explosive film true to South Africa’s rich and strong indigenous dance and music traditions. The award-winning film/graphic art duo from South Africa incorporated a vigorous Gumboots routine – a unique South African dance bred out of hardship of working in the gold mines in the 1880s; featuring the Feiyue Lo classic canvas sneakers as the dancers pound their foot a electro-dubstep beat. An amazing short film and a perfect representation and reinterpretation of Feiyue.

Bottega Veneta has recently released a short film entitled “Viaggio Notturno“, which means Voyage Nocturne. Inspired by travel, the short film depicts a man and a woman on their travels, highlighting an array of exquisite range of luggages and travel accessories that the brand is known for. Syndicate 12 ft. Kidkanevil (UK) & Daisuke Tanabe (JPN)

This coming Saturday, 4th December 2010, Syndicate wraps its inaugural year with a Red Bull Music Academy (RBMA) Special. RBMA London 2010 alumni, Kidkanevil & Daisuke Tanabe join our own Singapore representative, Cherry Chan, for a mini get together that covers a wide range of the electronic spectrum. Ever since their RBMA stint earlier this year, both Kidkanevil’s & Daisuke Tanabe’s profiles have risen up in the global music scene. Now three albums deep and with his latest offering ‘Basho Basho’, Knowledge Magazine has placed Kidkanevil “right up there with Flying Lotus”. Known as both a headphone experience and dancefloor dynamite, Kidkanevil tends to present an intelligent journey that blurs the lines between hip hop, future beats, jazz, dubstep and worldwide sounds. Daisuke Tanabe on the other hand has been getting attention from various music tastemakers and labels. He has been getting releases on labels such as Ninja Tune, BBE and Gilles Peterson’s Brownswood Recordings. Taking inspiration from jazz, folk and reggae as well as the whole canon of electronic music, this member of Tony Nwachukwu’s CD-R community knows that notes and melodies are just the guidelines for the feelings that lie beneath.

Joining Kidkanevil & Tanabe is the Syndicate stable comprising of Cherry Chan, Max Lane, Kiat & Sammy Panamuga. The collective’s projection mapping specialist, Brandon Tay, will pilot the visuals for the night. Syndicate will also be playing host to a special Red Bull Music Academy Workshop session earlier in the evening. All three alumni, Kidkanevil, Daisuke Tanabe & Cherry Chan will be speaking at the workshop. Singapore’s RBMA representative for 2008, Sonicbrat, joins the trio to share their experience as academy participants with aspiring DJs and producers.

This final Syndicate installment for the year also marks the release of the collective’s first EP on Qilin Music, which dropped on 29 November 2010, the four-track mini compilation features tracks from Cherry Chan, Max Lane & Kiat with a special remix by Kidkanevil himself. The Turntable Instrumentalist by Koflow | Recap

Last week saw the launch of Koflow’s latest album ‘The Turntable Instrumentalist’ at the Esplanade Recital Studio, and boy was it a night to remember. It was a night sprinkled with magical moments flowing from the pure love of all things music, transcended to us through the musical genius that is Koflow. The concert rolled in with a the ‘Theme From Terrorkota‘ accompanied by a video of the Terrorkota crew gathering footage for their upcoming skate video. After this, Koflow takes the stage and blesses us with his very first track from his latest album ‘The Turntable Instrumentalist (I Am A Scratch DJ)’. And to be honest, from here on out everyone got lost in the music and the rest of the performances. Kevin Lester jumped up on stage and gave a very lively performance of his ‘Kidhood Remix’, Kiat (Syndicate) slid onto the decks and drop some sick beats and the freestyle session with Aya Sekine and Dharni was just off the hook. By the end of the concert, everyone was up on their feet and just dancing the night away.
