Panasonic has announced the release of the long-awaited DMC-LX5 – a successor to the very popular DMC-LX3. The premium compact camera is fully re-designed in the lens from its predecessor with changes in the CCD and the image processing engine, and with further improvements and upgrades to the camera, ensuring the new LX5 produces high picture quality and creative images. One of the more eye catching specifications of the new DMC-LX5 is the addition of the F2.0 ultra wide angle 24mm LEICA DC VARIO-SUMMICRON lens, which should make buyers of compact cameras sit up and notice.

An overachiever armed with a degree from Harvard, 2 unique DMC World Champion titles, induction into the DMC DJ Hall of Fame, an NYU professorship, and nonstop gigs round the globe, kicking the party in it’s a*s, he fittingly sits in to judge our local turntablists at the DMC Championships and of course, show off his blazing playlists & world champion skills!

September kicks off with a lineup of releases from A Bathing Ape’s Ursus Collection. This release comprises of tees, buttoned down oxfords, pants, belts, bags, and accessories. Colour scheme wise, the collection follows shades that are bright but easy on the eye, not your typical subdued colours for the Fall season. Last Wednesday, Mulberry and Club 21 hosted a fashion installation and party for the launch of the Mulberry Fall/Winter 2010 Collection. Possibly the best launch party of 2010 yet, and held at our favorite beach hangout on Sentosa, the ‘Naughty Royalty’ themed party featured mini Alexa bag cupcakes, models sashaying alongside the pool in this season’s ready-to-wear collection, and of course, the presence of Alexa Chung herself, who was the guest DJ for the night. How can a party be anything less than amazing with Alexa Chung in the flesh?

Swedish avant garde label Fifth Avenue Shoe Repair had a busy weekend, holding an exhibition as well as opening their boutique at the Hilton Arcade. Titled By The No., the exhibition showcases a couture-inspired collection, each piece handcrafted in the brand’s atelier and only available by order. The exhibition runs until 12 September 2010 at 22 Ann Siang Rd, so check it out.

For all you Visvim fans out there, the legend behind the brand Mr Hiroki Nakamura is featured on the cover of this month’s JUICE magazine. Hiroki was in Singapore for a very private Visvim affair a few weeks ago, and our pals over at JUICE managed to catch up with him. Singapore’s revolutionary transmitter of beats & visual culture, Syndicate, takes it a notch higher with a live performance by one of Los Angeles’ definitive producers, Free the Robots. To fans of Flying Lotus, Nosaj Thing and the like, you will be well served with a boundless genre buffet this Saturday. Traditional jazz, psychedelic rock, electronica and hip hop will coalesce under the direction of the man, Chris Alfaro. Free the Robots has garnered a worldwide audience with his live performances set to bring you that true boom-bap experience and the irresistible nods with some button-pushing & knob-twiddling madness.

This time Syndicate also sees their first ever hip hop act of the year – TheCrazy88, after the hip hop duo’s release of their self-titled EP. Needless to say, we will be staying faithful to the Syndicate residents, Max Lane and Darren Dubwise, with Rafi Dean on the visuals, together with guest DJ Twinhed. We’re digging how this super-collective keeps us on our toes, don’t you? Be there this Saturday, 4th September 2010 at Home Club. Japanese casual wear chain Uniqlo has engaged new brand ambassadors, Charlize Theron and Orlando Bloom, for the coming Fall / Winter 2010 collection. With a new slogan titled “Made For All“, the Japanese company aims to communicate the message that it creates clothing that transcend all categories and social groups around the world. The acting duo will appear in Uniqlo advertising campaigns, helping the brand to highlight its innovative products and share its unique philosophy with the world.

The Nixon Art Mosh is about to hit Singapore this weekend, under the curation of Kult. Nixon Art Mosh is a global travelling art installation which features original work from Nixon artists, as well as a showcase of local artwork. An eclectic mix of art, music and design in a single pop up show, the exhibition will include works from some of our favorite artists, photographers and filmmakers under one roof for one night. The Nixon Art Mosh Singapore happens on 4th September 2010; 7pm at Old School, Mount Sophia

The last installation from Geseho’s Spring/Summer ‘10 AFFA collection is a release of leather inspired accessories, which includes a keychain, a keystrap and patches. The accessories were released over last weekend, and are currently available at the Geseho boutique.
