TANGS Orchard and TANGS VivoCity will switch off its lights for one hour from 8.30pm in support of World Wide Fund for Nature’s (WWF) Earth Hour initiative on Saturday, 27 March 2010. TANGS Orchard and TANGS VivoCity will switch off all its office, facade and more than 30 per cent of the stores’ lights in support of Earth Hour, which is a world-wide call-to-action to every individual, business and community to take action to cut carbon emissions. TANGS Website, Twitter and Facebook pages will also join in the support of “switching off our lights” by turning their backgrounds black, with a countdown timer to Earth Hour on TANGS website starting from 100 hours. Two amazing things went down at Velvet Underground last Saturday – First off, Hong is the craziest thing behind the decks anywhere on this island on Saturday nights. The crowd was bumping and jumping, and the atmosphere intense enough to rival some of the best guest DJs that have stepped foot on this island. And to top that off, Diesel was combing the club and giving away free Diesel t-shirts to anyone who was “stupid”, as well as $100 Diesel vouchers to the three most “stupid” people. Diesel will be making this pit stop for the next three Saturdays with Hong, so make sure you show up to Zouk or Velvet Underground with your game face and your “stupidity” and stand to win prizes! In recognition of the 75th birthday of His Holiness the Dalai Lama along with the 13th March being the Tibetan Independence Day, Shepard Fairey has created a limited edition print of His Holiness (500 Print Run). The work is based on an image taken by Don Farber; who has spent more than 30 years covering the Tibetan leader and community in exile. The “Whatever It Takes” campaign raises funds to aid global development issues including poverty alleviation, child abuse and environmental conservation. In support of this, TANGS launches Exspect’s eco-friendly iPod, iPhone storage cases and laptop bags with customised celebrity artworks of Alexander McQueen, Giorgio Armani, Paul Smith, Amy Winehouse, Foo Fighters, Coldplay, Slash and Ozzy Osborne. Some of the iPod and iPhone cases are Vegetable-tanned using tannin and other ingredients found in vegetable matter, tree bark, and other such sources. This replaces Chrome-tanned leather which uses chromium sulphate and other salts of chromium which can be harmful to the environment. It’s that time of the year again! The Audi Fashion Festival Singapore is back for its 2010 edition, once again at the Ngee Ann City Tent. The line up was released at a press conference yesterday afternoon. This year’s opening show will see classy and contemporary label Dsquared² rock the runway with famous model Carmen Kass (who opened and closed the recent Dsquared² Fall 2010 show). The past weekend was an “URSUS” one, according to the staff at the Singapore Bape Flagship store. The Ursus Bape line, which is slightly more skewed towards a military vibe (probably due to the fact that Tet of Wtaps is the man behind the collection), saw new drops in Singapore over the weekend.
